Where the Wild Babies Sleep...

So, I'd say my daughter is like babies most. She's sweet at times, like when she giggles and plays on her mat, but boy can this biddie holler like a banshee too. But that's average behavior, I suppose. All babies are cute and have their ups and downs.

But, what's bizarre about Mia is how weird she is about falling asleep. Putting her to bed has proven to be the hardest part of having a baby so far. She screeches if she's left alone and needs to be held by a member of her family in order to be able to drift off. This sucks because I can picture most parents looking at their droopy eyed kid saying

"Aw, Junior looks tired. Let's put him down for a nap." And the kid just lays there untill he falls asleep on his own! So not fair.

However, I've been a mother for almost 4 months, and I'd be damned if I didn't have a few tricks up my sleeve when it comes to my kid. The latest trick I've been using is a little weird ( and I should probably give my sister credit for this one since she introduced it). All kids enjoy lullabyes, and mothers around America rock their babies while humming "Hush Little Baby" and "Jesus Loves You". It seems to me that Mia hates it when I sing, because her shrieks gain intensity as soon as I try to hit those high C's (though she does enjoy hearing my renditions of Elton John songs). What puts Mia to sleep, and I'm not sure if this is outta love and relaxation or boredom, is Nick Cave.

His song "Where the Wild Roses Grow", a duet with Kylie Minogue is Mia's favorite bedtime song, and a sure winner. I swear, it's like she gets hit with a tranquilizer dart everytime she hears it. Crying subsides and turn into wails of indignation, which then turn into high pitched "Hmmmmm"'s, which are soon followed by pomerian-like snores.

The song itself is totally morbid and I'm sure my mother, who sings psalms and christian lullabyes to her granddaughter, wouldn't approve. In short, Nick Cave bludgeons Kylie Minogue to death because she's so beautiful. It's a beautiful song, but once I realized what it was about I figured it could only mean one thing:

My daughters gonna be a goth.

Look who jumped on the bandwagon

Hello all.

Nina here. Awesome, eighteen-year-old MILF extrordinaire! I recently read an article about blog and thus decided to create one myself.

I have no idea what's going to be in these blogs, but since I want to be a writer, I'd like to start writing regularly  again.  More about me, my daughter, and my life as an amazingly cool and funky teen mom (har, har) later.

It's possible that this will be the only post I ever submit, but it's also possible that there will be many. Probably no one will read this, but anyway... Here goes nothing!
